Pair of Columbia athletes shine at state swim meet

Two Columbia athletes performed well in the preliminary rounds of the MSHSAA Boys Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday in St. Peters.

Junior Grant Hunter delivered the best results for Rock Bridge. His 1:57.51 in the 200-yard individual medley was the second best time of the event, a little under a second and a half behind the leader.

Senior Dylan Parham was strong in the diving competition for Hickman, finishing with the 11th best score out of 39 divers in the one-meter dive.

Six Kewpies and 10 Bruins qualified for state competition. There were 12 preliminary events Friday. The final heats take place Saturday afternoon.
