One injured in car wreck on Broadway

COLUMBIA — A two-car accident on Broadway Friday afternoon left one woman injured.

The car wreck occurred near the the intersection of Stadium Boulevard and Broadway at 1:29 p.m. A 1995 Ford Contour was stopped in the right lane at the Broadway traffic light, where cars were backing up.

The vehicle was rear-ended by a 2007 Hyundai Elantra, said Gene Williams, the community service aide for the Columbia Police Department. The 42-year-old driver of the Contour was transported to University Hospital with minor neck and back pain.

The drivers were wearing seat belts, no airbags deployed and vehicle damage was minor. The 18-year-old Hyundai driver was ticketed, police said.
