PrintCOLUMBIA — A 17-year-old suspect in an arson that occurred near Prathersville in August was extradited to Boone County on Monday after his arrest in Denver.
Timothy Love-Silvey was arrested on a Greyhound bus in Denver on suspicion of arson, stealing and grand theft auto on Aug. 23.
Love-Silvey, who was 16 at the time of the fire, has been certified to stand trial as an adult for the offenses, Boone County Sheriff’s Department Detective Tom O’Sullivan said.
A 61-year-old victim’s stolen truck and property — which included CDs, garden tools and as many as 50 DVDs — were found in Springfield, according to a news release from the department.
The release states that Love-Silvey had been living with the victim, a relative, at East Wagon Trail Heights near Prathersville at the time of the incident.
The victim told investigators that he woke around midnight on the day of the incident and found a fire in the hallway near his bedroom, which he was able to stamp out with a towel and his foot.
The victim discovered that Love-Silvey was missing from the house, as well as the truck and other property.
The Boone County Fire Protection District and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department determined that the fire was started with an “unknown accelerant,” according to the release.
O’Sullivan said Love-Silvey then visited his girlfriend in Springfield. By tracking calls he made from his cell phone with a GPS system, police were able to track him to Denver.
O’Sullivan said investigators were not able to confirm any motive in the arson or where Love-Silvey might have been going.
Love-Silvey is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
