Truman museum to show Pulitzer Prize-winning photos

INDEPENDENCE — An upcoming exhibit will collect 66 years worth of photographs that have won journalism's highest honor.

"Capture the Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs" is being called the most comprehensive display of photos winning the annual award ever shown in the U.S.

The exhibit will be shown at the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum in Independence from Saturday through Jan. 24.

The collection displays all of the winning photos from 1942 through last year. It includes Joe Rosenthal's 1945 photograph of Marines raising the American flag at Iwo Jima and shots from the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 2001.

The collection is currently touring the nation and has been seen by more than 2 million people.
