COLUMBIA — The suspect in an October burglary in Columbia was arrested Sunday night after he lost consciousness while driving in the Lake of the Woods area, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Maj. Tom Reddin said a passenger applied the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. Deputies ran checks on Jarvis M. Dancy, 17, of Columbia, after he was transported to a hospital; they found multiple warrants. Reddin said Dancy was arrested after being released from the hospital.

Columbia Police Officer Jessie Haden said a female victim identified Dancy in an Oct. 22 burglary of her home in the 1300 block of White Oak Lane. Haden said the woman arrived home to find Dancy, whom she recognized, stealing a camcorder and cell phone. Dancy pushed past the woman and ran to a car parked in the street, dropping the camcorder along the way, Haden said. Haden said the victim may know Dancy through her daughter.

Haden said the woman called police again on Oct. 23, saying Dancy left her a voice message "threatening her safety" if she told police about the burglary.

Dancy was charged with second-degree burglary and tampering with a witness or victim. His bond was set at $20,000 for each charge. Reddin said there was also a Howard County warrant out for Dancy for a misdemeanor traffic offense.
