COLUMBIA — Two drivers were involved in an accident near Providence and Stewart roads Friday afternoon.

Will Shoemaker said he was pulling out of the Taco Bell parking lot in his 2007 white Honda Civic after being waved into traffic by a driver in the outer-most southbound lane when he collided with Zachary Volmert, who was driving in the next lane.

Volmert said his 2002 silver Ford Focus was pushed across the center line and blocked northbound traffic on Providence Road until it was towed.

Shoemaker said a female passenger in his car sustained injuries but that she declined transport to the hospital.

Both vehicles were damaged in the collision.

Shoemaker said he was ticketed for failure to yield exiting a private drive.
