Second half lifts Columbia College women's basketball team

COLUMBIA — The Columbia College women's basketball team defeated Baker (Kan.) University 64-56 on Saturday at the Arena of Southwell Complex.

After a 26-26 tie at halftime, the Cougars (4-1) surged ahead in the second half. Columbia College blocked 12 shots, including five by Rachel Oswald, who also led the Cougars with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Denise Rosario had 13 points and Veronica Smith ended with 13 rebounds. Whitney Davis dished out a game high nine assists.

The Cougars, No. 14 in the NAIA preseason top 25, host Freed-Hardeman at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday
