COLUMBIA — An intruder shot a Columbia man in his northeast Columbia home early Monday morning.
The victim’s girlfriend woke him up after hearing noises in the home. When the resident went to investigate the noise, he thought he heard two intruders, but he only saw one, Columbia Police Public Information Officer Jessie Haden said.
When the intruder noticed the resident approaching him, he shot him in the leg and left the house without taking anything, Haden said.
Because the house was dark, the victim could only describe the shooter as a 6-foot-tall man wearing baggy clothes, Haden said.
The victim went to Boone Hospital Center for treatment and was released later that day.
No arrests have been made.
