Man robs Petro Mart early Monday morning

COLUMBIA — A man with a handgun robbed a Petro Mart on College Avenue early Monday morning.

A male and a female clerk were alone in the convenience store when a man in a dark sweatshirt and jeans entered the store around 4 a.m., Columbia Police Public Information Officer Jessie Haden said.

The man pointed a silver handgun to the male clerk and told him to give him the money from both cash registers, Haden said. After taking the money, the robber ran away on foot.

The Columbia Police Department is reviewing the surveillance footage from the robbery.
