COLUMBIA — A Columbia teen involved in the “Knock Out King” parking garage robbery was sentenced Monday.
Walter Jones, 19, received a five-year prison sentence for second-degree robbery. He pleaded guilty to the charge on Oct. 9.
Jones was one of the five suspects arrested for the June beating and mugging of Adam Taylor, 25, which was captured on a video surveillance camera.
According to the police report, several males approached Taylor in the Cherry Street parking garage on Tenth Street. They knocked him to the ground, kicked him several times, stole his wallet and ran away.
The suspects told police investigators that the incident was a part of a game called “Knock Out King,” according to court documents.
The other suspects involved in the case are:
- Charles Williams III, 17, who was found guilty of second-degree robbery in September and has a set hearing for Monday.
- Lee Barney, 19, who is awaiting a new trial date for a second-degree robbery charge.
- Two juveniles.
