ST. LOUIS — Thieves broke into 17 vehicles outside the Edward Jones Dome while Missouri high school football teams were playing for the state championships Nov. 27 and 28.

Police told KMOX that thieves broke into 12 vehicles in one lot and five in another and took wallets, purses, GPS systems, sterero systems, iPods and a leather jacket.

Police spokeswoman Erica Van Ross said the lot attendants reported not having seen anything suspicious.

Van Ross said extra officers were on duty Friday around the Dome, but there aren't enough to station officers outside every parking lot.
