LOUISIANA, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Transportation said there will be no easy — or cheap — solution to the landslide problems along Route 79 in northeast Missouri.

A mile-long stretch of the scenic roadway closed two weeks ago for the second time in 19 months after a shifting hillside caused the road to collapse.

The Hannibal Courier-Post reported Friday that MoDOT engineers have outlined three options:

—Fix the current fissure at a cost of up to $1 million.

—Repave over six problem spots at a cost of $1.5 million.

—Relocate the roadway around the problem area at a cost of $2.7 million.

It isn't clear when a decision will be made.
