SEDALIA — Law enforcement officers arrested 31 people after a seven-month investigation into drug sales in Sedalia.

The arrests on Thursday were the result of an investigation involving Sedalia police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Police said an undercover officer made 73 drug buys, 38 of which occurred within 2,000 feet of a school. Five vehicles were forfeited and officers said at least 15 suspects might face enhanced penalties because of possible gang activities.

Police said the investigation began in response to complaints from Sedalia residents about drug buys being conducted on the streets.
