COLUMBIA — Country music star Wynonna Judd brings an early Christmas celebration with her Wednesday in a performance with the University Concert Series.
The tour, named after Judd's Billboard Country-topping album "A Classic Christmas," has been traveling the country for three years. The album features Judd's covers of classic Christmas songs such as "Winter Wonderland" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."

Judd gained access to the music business early, singing in a duo with her mother, Naomi Judd.
"The Judds had all kinds of hits and they already had a strong fan base all across the country," said Jeremy Westby, publicist for Wynonna. "When she went on her own a few years ago, she sold millions and millions of albums. She carved a really strong niche."
She has released seven solo albums since her first, "Wynonna," in 1992. Her most recent album, "Sing: Chapter 1," is a mix of songs and genres, including the often-covered Bill Withers song, "Ain't No Sunshine," and Stevie Ray Vaughan's "The House is Rockin'".
Judd celebrated Christmas in November when she participated in a "Santa Train" tradition in the Appalachian Mountains. Started in 1943, this train passes through parts of Tennessee, Virginia and Judd's home state of Kentucky, delivering toys to children.
"Naomi had participated in the past, but this year was Wynonna's year on board," Westby said. "The kids would come up to the train stations — a lot of them just by themselves — to pick up the toys. Wynonna grew up in that area, so it was a pretty poignant day."
Judd will perform at 7 p.m. in Jesse Auditorium. Tickets are available through the University Concert Series box office in Jesse Hall at MU and online at concertseries.org.
