COLUMBIA — A man was in stable condition at University Hospital after being shot in the Walmart parking lot on Conley Road early Monday morning, according a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
The man, who was an employee at the Walmart, was returning to work after a break at around 3 a.m. when two suspects confronted him. A possible third suspect was nearby. One suspect demanded money from the victim and then shot him twice in the back and once in the hand, the release said.
The victim described the suspects as men wearing orange ski masks. The gun was described as a rifle and police recovered six .22 caliber shell casings at the scene, the release said.
Police reviewed surveillance footage and described the suspects' vehicle as resembling a Dodge Intrepid or Chrysler Concord.
