The Hickman boys basketball team defeated host Jefferson City 55-44 on Tuesday to improve to 5-3.
The Kewpies have played road games this season, but this was their first exposure to a noisy hostile crowd.
"I don't think the guys could hear me very well, so they were kind of on their own out there," Hickman coach John Burns said by phone.
Despite the adversity, the Kewpies had a lead going into the fourth quarter and outworked the Jays in the final period.
"We had a lot of good effort off the bench," Burns said. "I think we wore them down as the game went on."
The Kewpies will play at Rock Bridge at 6 p.m. Thursday at Rock Bridge.
