COLUMBIA — Filing began Tuesday for a seat on the Boone County Fire Protection District's board of directors. No one had filed Wednesday* morning.
John Gordon, who has served on the board since 2004, will not seek re-election for personal reasons.
"If I ran again, I would want to run for a full six-year term," he said. "That puts me up into my 70s, and I've got some other things I want to do. I've got some grandchildren that I want to spend more time with."
An election will be held on April 6, and the winner will be sworn in at the regular Fire District board meeting on April 15.
Potential candidates may file from 8 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Fire District's headquarters at 2201 I-70 Dr. NW in Columbia. There is a filing fee of $10. Filing closes Jan. 19.
