UPDATE: MU student who jumped from garage identified

COLUMBIA — An MU student who died this morning after jumping from the Hitt Street Parking Garage has been identified as William A. Cuva of Illinois.

Cuva, 20, is listed as a sophomore in the university directory.

MU Police Capt. Brian Weimer said officers were called to the garage at 3:46 a.m. after Cuva jumped from its north side. He was taken to University Hospital, where he died.

Police closed the garage to investigate the scene, but it reopened early Thursday.

Weimer said a member of Cuva's family had been notified Thursday afternoon.
