COLUMBIA — Business at a north Columbia McDonald’s was interrupted this morning when a minivan drove through the restaurant's glass façade.
A white Dodge Caravan drove through McDonald’s west glass entryway just before 9 a.m., said Lili Vianello, a local McDonald's spokeswoman. The restaurant is located at the corner of Smiley Lane and Range Line Street.
While the McDonald’s customer was attempting to park in a disabled parking spot near the west entrance of the restaurant, the customer unintentionally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, driving directly into the restaurant’s glass facade, Vianello said.
There were no reported injuries, and city inspectors said the building's structure was safe. The McDonald's was open for business shortly after the accident Monday morning.
The restaurant is making arrangements for repairs, Vianello said.
