COLUMBIA – The number of traffic accidents in the Columbia area were not out of the ordinary for the holiday weekend.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported seven accidents for Boone and surrounding counties from Christmas Eve to Saturday, with no fatalities and one serious injury.
Lakeidra L. Kemp of Columbia died along with three others in a crash near Smithton in Pettis County.
The Boone County Fire Protection District responded to 16 accidents from Christmas Eve through Monday morning. There were no significant injuries reported, and most were accidents where the car slid off the road, typical for the weather conditions.
“It was very normal, especially for the first snow of the season,” District Division Chief Gale Blomenkamp said.
