COLUMBIA — A Columbia Police officer’s personal vehicle was stolen from her driveway Monday morning.
The officer, who lives in the southwest part of town, had left her 1997 blue Ford Taurus unlocked and running to warm it up before leaving for work, a news release said.
Columbia Police Department would not disclose the name of the officer or her residence.
“We are the first to admit that we make mistakes, too,” Jessie Haden, Columbia Police department spokewoman, said in a news release. “We don’t want any other citizens to have this happen to them.”
The release said the department urges citizens to avoid leaving their cars running.
So far, there are no leads on where the car is or who stole it.
Anyone with information on the Taurus, which has a bike rack on the roof, is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 875-TIPS.
