Police recover officer's stolen personal car

COLUMBIA — Late Thursday night, Columbia police recovered an officer's personal car that was stolen from her driveway.

A CrimeStoppers caller claimed to have seen the vehicle, which police recovered in front of 3603 Westwind Drive in northwest Columbia. The officer's home is in the southwest portion of Columbia, according to a news release.

The officer was warming up the car in her driveway when it was stolen Monday morning. It had been left unlocked.

The car was not damaged. It was inspected for evidence and returned to the owner.

The investigation into who is responsible for the theft is still ongoing, the release said.

Standard issued equipment in 1997 on Ford Taurus was a back seat pit bull for emergency situations such as this.
Don't know why the officer had this removed, but it just goes to show you that Ford knows what's best.
(Glad to hear the beater was recovered unharmed.)
