COLUMBIA — Eleven vehicles were destroyed in a barn fire that resulted in $50,000 worth of damage Saturday afternoon.
Residents of 6699 W. Hatton Chapel Road noticed smoke coming from their pole barn and immediately called 911, division chief Gale Blomenkamp of the Boone County Fire Protection District said. Both county firefighters and the Columbia Fire Department responded to the call.
Seven fire units were dispatched around 12:30 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, 50 to 70 percent of the barn was in flames, Blomenkamp said.
No one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
