MOBERLY — Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a horse-drawn buggy in the southbound lanes of U.S. 63 on Tuesday.
The buggy's driver, Eli Borntrager, 29, of Madison was killed as a result of the collision, which occurred at 10:55 a.m.
David Fleming, 34, of Staunton, Ill., struck the buggy from behind with his vehicle on the outside lane of traffic on U.S. 63, according to a Moberly Police Department news release.
Fleming was not injured.
A veterinarian euthanized the horse pulling the buggy because of serious injuries received from the collision.
Moberly police are still investigating the accident.
