COLUMBIA — The city’s Office of Cultural Affairs is calling for artists to submit entries for the 2010 commemorative poster.
Since 1992 the city has selected a commemorative poster each year which displays "the vitality and beauty of mid Missouri and the significance of the arts," according to the city's website. The poster once was unveiled in conjunction with the Missouri Fall Festival, an arts event that has since been discontinued. But the poster program, which is co-sponsored by the Missouri Arts Council, has continued.
The poster is unveiled annually during a late summer party and is made available for sale. The money raised supports the efforts of the Office of Cultural Affairs.
All Missouri artists are eligible to submit entries. Up to 10 images in any medium can be submitted. The winner gets $1,000 but must hand over intellectual rights to the piece.
The city in 2009 received a total of 74 entries from 13 artists. The deadline for submissions this year is April 9.
