COLUMBIA — Columbia resident Joel Francisco was robbed at gunpoint at 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, near the Salvation Army at 23 E. Walnut St., police said.
Francisco was walking east on Walnut Street toward Providence Road while talking on his cell phone, said Jeff Westbrook, Columbia Police Department spokesman. Francisco was then threatened by a man with a stainless steel handgun who took $44 from Francisco’s pockets and wallet before leaving the scene.
The perpetrator was described as a thinly built, 6-foot-tall black male between the ages of 20 and 30. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and black beanie. Westbrook said there were no suspects yet.

A thinly built, 6' black male...between 20 and 30!? I know him!
This is sarcasm. The man you described fits the description for millions of black males and is incredibly irrelevant. It won't help in apprehending the perp and is in fact reinforcing the stereotype of the "big scary black man". J2000 tells us this, yet the editors don't care. Seems hypocritical of the J-school. I'm very disappointed in you, Missourian.
