PrintCOLUMBIA-- The League of Conservation Voters will host a Clean Energy Missouri campaign kickoff at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Friends Room at Columbia Public Library. The meeting is part of a national campaign to pass a clean energy plan through Congress, according to a news release from the league.
The League of Conservation Voters is part of the Clean Energy Works coalition, a group of organizations and individuals working toward cleaner energy, league spokeswoman Michaela Howard said.
The meeting will feature Jan Weaver, a local clean energy expert and director of the Environmental Studies Program at MU. She will speak on how a clean energy plan would create jobs in Missouri, strengthen national security and limit pollution that leads to climate change, Howard said. Attendees can also learn how they can help pass clean energy legislation.
