Local radio station sets up voting booths for national contest

COLUMBIA — A local radio station could win $50,000 for MU Children's Hospital in a national radio contest.

KTXY/106.9, or Y107, is in second place for North America's "Most Caring Radio Station." Columbia listeners can vote for the station online or in person at one of three places today. Voters register their e-mail address with the Web site and can vote up to 10 times a day.

Here are the times and locations:

  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Culver's, 2520 Broadway Bluff Drive
  • 1 to 3 p.m. Kaldi's, 29 S. Ninth St.
  • 3 to 5 p.m. HyVee, 3120 W. Broadway

The station currently trails a station in Milwaukee by about 21,000 votes. The contest closes one minute before midnight Friday.
