COLUMBIA —Thieves took an automatic teller machine from a convenience store north of Columbia early Wednesday, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
A passerby noticed a white, full-size cargo van parked near Fastlane 66 Convenience Store, 7701 N. Roanoke Drive, and called the Boone County Sheriff's Department at about 1:50 a.m. At the same time, an alarm went off at the business, according to the release.
According to the release, when deputies arrived, they saw that the front door of the store had been damaged and that an ATM was missing.
The damaged ATM was later found by deputies on a county road several miles away. But deputies were not sure if any money was taken.
