COLUMBIA – Three people were assaulted and tied up late Tuesday night during a home invasion, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
The Sheriff's Department responded to a burglary call at 11:20 p.m. at Woodstock Estates Trailer Court. Four people dressed in dark clothing and with their faces covered forced their way into the mobile home.
The victims told deputies two of the assailants were armed with a handgun and a rifle or shotgun, Detective Tom O'Sullivan said.
Two of the victims told deputies that the suspects assaulted them and tied them up. A third man who entered the house during the incident was also assaulted and bound.
The three victims, who all lived in the mobile home, spoke little English.
"They contacted a friend fluent in both Spanish and English, who arrived on the scene and was able to contact law enforcement," O'Sullivan said.
All three victims were injured. Two refused medical attention; the third man's nose was bloodied during the attack. He was treated and released from University Hospital.
No property was taken, and no suspects have been identified in the case.
"We don't have a lot to go on at this point," O'Sullivan said. "Just sketchy suspect descriptions. We're searching for the involved individuals as best we can."
