PrintCOLUMBIA — The Daniel Boone Regional Library System will replace its current catalog system with a new catalog system, BiblioCommons, on Monday. It will be the second library system in the U.S. to use the new software, according to a library press release.
"We're always looking for ways to improve our services, and we also specifically heard from patrons during our recent strategic planning process that the catalog could be easier to use," Library Director Melissa Carr said in the release. "We know the online catalog is a core service, something nearly every patron uses, so we're very happy to be able to offer such an exciting upgrade."
Features of the new system include:
- Better search results
- Useful filters, such as showing only available items
- User-contributed lists, reviews, ratings and other information
- Tools to organize and share personal reading, viewing and listening
- Ability to create a virtual collection and reading lists
- Facebook and Twitter compatibility
"Whether you only use the catalog to search for an occasional title, or you're eager to start sharing your favorite titles with others, the new catalog has features that will enhance library services for every kind of user," regional technical services manager Pat Kopp said in the release. "I'm so pleased with this new system, it's like I've died and gone to library catalog heaven."
