COLUMBIA —New red-light cameras at the intersections of Stadium and Forum boulevards and southbound Stadium Boulevard and Providence Road are both operational, according to a Columbia Police Department press release. Engineers are still adjusting the camera at northbound Stadium and Providence, but they expect it to be operational soon.

Gatso USA systems engineers have been in Columbia working on the cameras at all three locations.

“Weather conditions and equipment can lead to delays in the cameras going ‘live’ and we experienced that, as we thought we might," Public Information Officer Jessie Haden said. "That is not unusual.”

Citations will begin being issued as soon as Saturday for traffic violators caught on camera.

“We want to take this opportunity to remind motorists, again, that these cameras are about to be ‘live' and ask them to slow down, drive safely and stop at red lights,” Haden said.
