BOONE COUNTY — Snowy and slick weather conditions contributed to 18 accidents Friday morning, but no serious injuries.
The Columbia Fire Department responded to four calls from midnight until about 10:30 a.m., two of which required extrication, said a spokesman for the Fire Department.
The worst accident occurred at 8:27 a.m. at the 124 mile-marker on Interstate 70 East, when an SUV flipped onto its side.The occupants, an adult female and two children, were extricated from the vehicle and transported to University Hospital with minor injuries.
An accident on the 2400 block of Rock Quarry Road also required extrication, but there were no injuries reported.
The Boone County Fire Protection District responded to 14 calls since 6:25 a.m., said Division Chief Gale Blomenkamp, spokesman for the district. Of those 14, five required extrication, but none of the accidents were “earth-shattering,” said Blomenkamp.
The extrications occurred at:
- 5600 block of Gillespie Bridge Road
- Route E and East Ridge Road
- Mile marker 124 on I-70 East
- Highway 63 and Canole Road
- Mile marker 135 on I-70 East
