COLUMBIA — In its final home match of the season, the Rock Bridge wrestling team sent out its four seniors with a dominating 51-24 win over De Smet.
Rock Bridge wrestled three of its four seniors, and each earned a victory. Jackson Adams earned a second-period pin over DeSmet’s Matt Bergjans at 125 pounds, followed by Will Evans' 6-5 win at 130 over Steve Davis.
“It’s just been a really good four years,” Evans said. “It’s sad that it’s my last time at Rock Bridge.”
The final senior to wrestle for the Bruins was Josh Litofsky, who won by forfeit at 145.
“It’s a good feeling,” Rock Bridge coach Travis Craig said of the seniors winning their final home match. “It’d be tough to lose your last match at home in front of your parents and fans.”
Craig said that the dominating win in the final regular season match is a good confidence boost for the team heading into districts.
The win was Rock Bridge’s first home win of the season. The Bruins head to districts next weekend at Jefferson City.
