ST. LOUIS — Botanist and environmentalist Peter Raven has been recognized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The longtime Missouri Botanical Garden president was recognized at the academy's conference late last month in Beijing.
The Award for International Scientific Cooperation honors recipients for major contributions to the academy's growth in science and technology.
Raven is one of the world's leading botanists and advocates of conservation, biodiversity and a sustainable environment.
He has headed the Missouri Botanical Garden for four decades, turning it into a world-class center for botanical research, education and horticultural display.
