COLUMBIA — The Columbia Police Department reported 19 accidents that occurred from 5 p.m. to midnight Monday and six more accidents Tuesday morning from midnight to 9 a.m., spokeswoman Jessie Haden said.
“Clark Lane was an absolute mess last night,” she added. Three fire units were dispatched to an extrication crash at Clark and McKee Street around 9:40 p.m., where an individual was trapped in a vehicle. She said at least three vehicles were reported in the accident and up to seven vehicles were possibly involved, although there was no major damage.
The second accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. in the 400 block of Old Plank Road. Haden said one car slid into a ditch and Emergency Medical Services responded.
A third accident occurred 10 minutes later, and both the Fire Department and the Boone County Fire Protection District responded to the accident.
Fire Chief Steven Sapp said there will be an additional rescue squad on hand and all stations remain open on Tuesday.
