UPDATE: MU student misses "Jeopardy!" final

COLUMBIA — No, Alex Trebek was sorry: The correct answer was "Who is John Paul Jones?" and MU senior Lindsay Eanet's wrong answer cost her a spot in the finals of the "Jeopardy!" College Championship.

Before that, Eanet, a journalism major from Illinois, led the round at $18,700, about $3,000 ahead of her closest competitor, Ryan Stoffers of UCLA. .

The final category, "American Heroes," asked for the name of the person who said, "I wish to have no connection with any ship that does not sail fast; for I intend to go in harm's way."

Eanet's response, "Who is Dewey?" cost her a wager of $16,543. Stoffers, meanwhile, walked away with $24,500 and a spot in the finals.
