COLUMBIA — The Boone County Public Information Office has created a weekly e-mail newsletter that will cover county government, according to a news release.
The newsletter will circulate every Friday through the Boone County News e-mail list. Every issue will include several segments:
- “Week in Review,” current events and updates related to county offices
- “The Things You Might Have Missed,” any county news from the current week
- “Coming Up,” a list of future county government events
County Public Information Officer Porcshe Moran brainstormed the idea after she was hired in April to fill the newly created position. Her goal since taking the position has been to “get our news out there,” she said.
“I’m always looking at what other counties are doing to get their news out to the public,” Moran said.
Southern District Commissioner Karen Miller said the press has so much to cover that issues can go overlooked. She said she hopes the newsletter will give the public “a heads up” on county news that may fall through the cracks.
“This is the best way to keep up to date on what’s happening weekly,” Miller said.
Moran will write each newsletter. To sign up for the newsletter, go to showmeboone.com/countylistserv.asp.
Moran said county residents without Internet access can call her at 886-4312 to request a printed copy.
