MOBERLY — The death of an Amish man killed when a car struck his horse-drawn buggy has been ruled a homicide.
Twenty-nine-year-old Eli L.L. Borntrager of Madison died Jan. 12 while driving his buggy on U.S. 63 in Moberly. The horse was badly injured and had to be euthanized.
The Moberly Monitor-Index reported that Randolph County Coroner Gerald Luntsford finalized his report this past week.
It noted that the cart was equipped with a slow moving vehicle triangle of appropriate size, that the road was dry and the weather was clear.
The report also said there was no indication that the driver of the car made any attempt to stop or avoid the cart.
