COLUMBIA — A man was arrested on possession of a controlled substance charge Saturday night after deputies pulled him over for a broken headlight, Boone County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. James Perkins said.
At about 7:50 p.m., deputies stopped 31-year-old Grahame Lake at the intersection of Snead Drive and St. Charles Road.
Deputies found prescription pills and an "unconfirmed powdery white substance" in plain view, Perkins said. After a search of the vehicle, deputies located more pills and more of the unconfirmed substance packaged for distribution. Perkins declined to elaborate.
Lake also had a suspended driver’s license, no proof of vehicle insurance and had two previous warrants.
Lake was charged with:
- a failure to appear warrant; bond set at $1,000
- a warrant for possession of a controlled substance; bond set at $4,500
- possession with intent to distribute; bond set at $10,000
As of Sunday evening, Lake had not posted bond and was still in jail. He was not charged for driving with a suspended license and without proof of insurance.
