GRAPHIC: Winter speed sports don't always lead to most injuries

At the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy, 330 athletes visited various medical services. Although there is not a direct correlation between speed and injury, sports with greater speeds tended to have more injuries based on numbers from the Turin games. Luge, despite being one of the fastest Winter Olympic events, had a low number of athletes requiring medical services.
