Oldest restaurant in Jefferson City reopens after renovation

JEFFERSON CITY — The oldest restaurant in Jefferson City has reopened after undergoing a renovation.

The Jefferson City News Tribune reported that improvements at the ECCO Lounge include exposing and cleaning the original pressed-tin ceiling.

ECCO stands for Earl Childers' Construction Company. The restaurant, which reopened on Monday, has gone by that name for 65 years.

Before that, it was also called Emma's Tap Room, Farmer's Cafe and the Farmers Home Hotel.

In its more than 150-year stint at the same location, it has seen several menu changes. Its new owners will blend pub food with fresh and from-scratch options.

Kirt: You're absolutely right. This was an AP story but it could have benefited from some additional information. A Google search reveals:

However, it looks like the Web address Google provided is actually for a lounge in Hollywood.
