COLUMBIA — While areas of eastern Missouri and central Illinois are under a winter storm watch until Monday morning, the forecast for Columbia and surrounding areas calls mostly for rain with little to no accumulation of snow.
The St. Louis office of the National Weather Service forecasted a mixture of sleet and snow will hit mid-Missouri Saturday evening and continue until Sunday night, when the precipitation will change to all snow.
For Columbia, no more than a half-inch of snow accumulation is expected Sunday night.
The report, which was released late Saturday afternoon, predicted that the sleet and snow precipitation would stop by Monday.
Areas surrounding mid-Missouri are expected to see more hazardous weather, which might affect travel to and from Columbia. For an up-to-date report of travel conditions, go to the Missouri Department of Transportation Traveler Information Map.
