The Rock Bridge girls basketball team advanced to the Class 5, District 9 finals after beating Timberland 55-34 in the semifinals Tuesday in Troy.
Rock Bridge coach Jill Nagel said the Bruins, who led throughout the game, had a good team effort and there were solid performances by all her players.
Senior guard Amaya Williams, an Associated Press All-State Team selection for the second consecutive season, led the Bruins with 13 points.
Carmen Boessen and Emily Holt both scored 10 points and Megan Marshall hit three 3-pointers to total nine points. Lindsey Cunningham and Orreshia Chatman each scored six points.
Top-seeded Rock Bridge (20-3), the defending district champion, is set to play No. 2 seed Troy Buchanan (21-5) in the district championship at 6 p.m. Friday at Troy.
Troy Buchanan advanced to the final with a 58-41 victory over Hickman in the late semifinal Tuesday at Troy.
Hickman, which finished the season at 11-15, turned around an 8-0 Trojans first-quarter lead and built a 37-36 Kewpies lead with 30 seconds left in the third quarter, but Troy made a final run and Hickman could not catch up.
Hickman forward Aqua Corpening scored 11 points, Shaunece Ballenger had nine and both Paige Nelson and Claire Ortbals each had two 3-point baskets. Ashley Davis and Kimberly Lake added four apiece.
Rock Bridge is ranked No. 6 and Troy Buchanan No. 10 in the latest AP girls basketball poll.
