COLUMBIA— Members of the public will be able to come forward and share their thoughts on a proposed construction project Monday night.
The City Council is holding a public hearing on a resolution to extend Discovery Parkway from the U.S. 63 interchange to the intersection of Rolling Hills and New Haven Road.
The construction project's estimated cost is $4.3 million, according to a city press release. The Boone County Public Works Department is expecting to receive money from the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, though the funds have not come through yet, Assistant Public Works Director David Nichols said. The funds would be administered through the Federal Highway Administration and the Missouri Department of Transportation.
"If funds are going to be available, I need to have the project ready to go," Nichols said.
Leftover funds from the Gans Road interchange project could also be used toward the project. Nichols said he hadn't finished going through invoices, but it could be up to $2 million.
The department held an interested parties meeting on March 2009.
