PrintTwo time-expiring baskets told two different stories in the Class 5, District 9 semifinals Wednesday.
A 3-pointer by Rock Bridge guard Ricky Kreklow came too late, and a layup by Hickman guard Lyle Harris came just in time.

Rock Bridge's disappointment came first Wednesday night at Troy Buchanan High School. The top-seed Bruins trailed by four when Kreklow made the 3-pointer as time expired, giving the No. 4 seed Holt a 51-50 upset victory.
Rock Bridge trailed 38-28 at halftime, after Holt forward Dantiel Daniels scored 20 points to build the Indians' lead. The Bruins tied the game with three straight steals and three layups in the third quarter.
Rock Bridge had a four-point lead in the fourth quarter but Holt rallied.
The Bruins (20-6), ranked No. 10 in Class 5, had won four-straight district tournaments and been in five-straight district championship games, advancing as far as the state semifinals last season.
Hickman's excitement followed Rock Bridge's game. The Kewpies were down one point with 4.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter after a lead-changing Troy Buchanan layup. After a Hickman timeout, Harris took an inbound pass and dribbled the full length of the court to score a game-winning layup, helping the No. 2 seed Kewpies beat the No. 3 seed Trojans 50-49.
Hickman guard Marcus Whitt’s 15 points led the Kewpies. Harris and forward Xavier Brown each added eight.
Troy guard Derek Deters’ four 3-pointers helped keep the game close. Hickman also beat Troy in the semifinals last year, a three-point win.
Hickman (17-8) will face Holt (20-7) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Troy in the finals.
