The Bruins reclaim their title as District champions after beating Troy Buchanan High School 43-29 in Troy Friday night.
Rock Bridge was only up by two going into the second half of the final but managed to pull ahead to win the Class 5 District 9 championship.
“It was a total team effort,” coach Jill Nagel said by phone. “We pushed up our defense, made smart shots and created a lot of turnovers.”
Thirteen seems to be senior guard Amaya Williams’ lucky number. She led the Bruins with 13 points Friday night as well as in the game against Timberland which advanced them to the finals.
Hannah Dressler scored eight points, followed closely by teammates Carmen Boessen and Emily Holt who scored seven points a piece.
Rock Bridge (23-4) will play Jefferson City High School, the winner of the Class 5 District 10 game, on March 3 at 6 p.m. at Union High School.
