Missouri baseball team wins fourth game in a row

Saturdays are becoming a good day for the offense of the Missouri Tigers baseball team.

One week after putting up 17 runs, the Missouri Tigers (4-1) scored 11 runs on 14 hits in an 11-7 victory over the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon in their second game of the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Ala. The win was Missouri’s fourth in a row after losing its season opener.

Like the previous day against Florida Atlantic, Missouri got the scoring started in the first inning when outfielder Russell LaFleur came around to score on a sacrifice fly by designated hitter Jonah Schmidt.

Auburn took the lead in its half of the inning with a two-run RBI double from outfielder Brian Fletcher.

Missouri and Auburn continued to battle for the lead each inning, but Aaron Senne gave Missouri the lead for good on a two-run home run, his second of the year, in the top of the third inning.

The score stayed the same until Schmidt blasted his first home run of the season in the top of the 5^th inning. Senne followed Schmidt, and made it back-to-back home runs with his second of the game to make it 6-3.

Senne, who finished the day with four RBIs, is one of only two seniors on the team this year. As a senior, he knows he will be responsible for helping the team stay on track. He said for now, the team just needs to relax.

Missouri used seven pitchers to get through the game. Starter Nick Tepesch earned his first win of the year. The junior went five innings, giving up five earned runs, seven hits ad striking out three. Sophomore Jeff Emens ended the game for the second straight day. Auburn pitcher Grant Dayton suffered the loss.

The Missouri Tigers will attempt to go 3-0 in the Auburn Invitational when they play Boston College at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
