KANSAS CITY— The family of a Kansas City area pediatrician missing in Haiti since the earthquake is getting some closure.
Dr. Frank Vaughters' sister, Lucy, says dental records have been used to tentatively identify a body found in the ruble of a Haitian hotel as her brother's. Lucy Vaughters says conclusive identification is pending an autopsy in Delaware.
The Kansas City Star reported that Dr. Vaughters was visiting Port-au-Prince to oversee a family-planning and children's health clinic he created there when the earthquake hit.
Vaughters was 63. During his career, he cared for needy children in Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo.
His family is planning a memorial service in April.
