Missouri baseball team's win streak ends at four

It took three big innings to snap the Missouri baseball team's four-game win streak. 

Boston College beat the Tigers 14-6 on Sunday afternoon in Missouri's final game of the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Ala.

 

Missouri starter Aaron Blunt lasted 2 and 1/3 innings and gave up four runs in the top of the first inning. Boston College outfielder Robbie Amsden got the game started with a triple on the first pitch. Amsden would score on an error and outfielder John Spatola capped it off with a three-run home run.

The Tigers (4-2) battled back to get Blunt off the hook, eventually tying it on a solo home run by first baseman Aaron Senne in the bottom of the third inning. It was Senne’s third home run of the weekend.

The Eagles (3-3) broke it open in the fourth inning, scoring six runs with two outs. Spatola led the scoring with another three-run home run. 

The Tigers again tried to come back, cutting the score to 10-6, but Boston College added four more runs in the eighth inning.

Jeff Scardino (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing six unearned runs. Missouri finished 2-1 for the second straight weekend.
